Position Papers
What is a Position Paper?
A position paper contains a delegate’s stance on an issue and contains background information on both the topic and the country’s relevant history. This will allow delegates to gain a more profound understanding of the topics being discussed. Your position paper should be on one issue only. The contents of a position paper will differ between committees with allocated countries and special committees with allocated individuals or specific procedures. Please refer below for the contents of each.
Formatting Guidelines
The position paper must be submitted in EB Garamond size 12 font, and be a maximum of one page long. ISHMUN will not accept position papers that exceed the aforementioned page limit. Delegates must cite the sources used within their position papers. Works cited are not included in the page limit. Delegates may not use images, diagrams, illustrations, or any other media within their paper. All position papers must adhere to the following formatting guidelines and be submitted into their appropriate committee folders, shared by the respective chairs, by may 26, 2023:
Font: EB Garamond
Size: 12
Line spacing: 1.15
Margins: 1 in.
Citation style: MLA or APA
File format: .pdf
